Football Recap: Thomas Sumter Academy Skates Past Clarendon Hall with Ease

The matchup between Thomas Sumter Academy and Clarendon Hall on Friday hardly resembled the 7-6 effort from their previous meeting. The Generals took their matchup with ease, bagging a 55-8 victory over the Saints. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Generals this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thomas Sumter Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Petrauschke, who picked up 209 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Petrauschke is now averaging an impressive 105.6 receiving yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Williams, who threw for 235 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes.

Thomas Sumter Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Carter Hill and Clay Team. Team got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was the fourth in a row for Thomas Sumter Academy, bringing their record up to 4-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.3 points over those games. As for Clarendon Hall, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Coming up, Thomas Sumter Academy will host Greenwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clarendon Hall, they will head out to face off against Dorchester Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Saints' offense will have their work cut out for them.
