Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Beech Grove

Beech Grove came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Speedway Sparkplugs. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kyrah Pierle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pierle was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison Corn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Harper Moore was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Beech Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in six consecutive contests.

Beech Grove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Speedway, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Beech Grove will take on Southport in a tournament on Friday. As for Speedway, they will be taking part in a tournament against Roncalli at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
