Basketball Recap: Bishop Kenny Takes a Loss

Bishop Kenny fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Bartram Trail on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bartram Trail Bears. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Landon Geren was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds for Bartram Trail. That's the most points Geren has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of David Souza, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Bishop Kenny's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Bartram Trail, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Bishop Kenny will be taking part in a tournament against Charlotte Latin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Charlotte Latin's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games. As for Bartram Trail, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Fernandina Beach at 3:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
