Basketball Recap: Chatham Central Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Chatham Central won the last time they faced Jordan-Matthews and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Chatham Central Bears came out on top against the Jordan-Matthews Jets by a score of 68-59. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Jets are ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chatham Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reid Albright, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. Albright is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 42 games he's played dating back to last season. Brennen Oldham was another key player, going 9-for-16 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Jordan-Matthews saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zaeon Auguste went 7-for-11 to rack up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Sean Price, who went 5-for-12 en route to 15 points.

Chatham Central is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points over those games. As for Jordan-Matthews, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.

Chatham Central has already played their next game, a 66-60 victory against North Moore on the 14th. Jordan-Matthews has also already played their next match (against Graham), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
