Volleyball Game Preview: Bellflower Buccaneers vs. Santa Fe Chiefs

The Bellflower Buccaneers will face off against the Santa Fe Chiefs at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bellflower, who comes in off a win.

While Bellflower didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Gahr on Monday as Bellflower made off with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Gladiators: they've now won four in a row.

Bellflower not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Gahr between 18 and 21 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pacifica.

Santa Fe started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-22, 25-12, 30-28.

Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Bellflower, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Bellflower came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Fe in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Bellflower have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Fe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
