Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Lab University Prep National's 14th in Last 16 Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Word of God Christian Academy National, Lab University Prep National was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 67-54 victory over the Shining Star Sports Academy Panthers. For the Kings, this counts as revenge for the 78-52 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Jordan Hunter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9-for-16 on his way to 26 points. Another player making a difference was Demarco Reynolds, who posted ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Shining Star Sports Academy lost, don't look at Babacar Ly. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-19 to rack up 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Ly a new career-high in blocks (two). Cheikh Thiam was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 13 boards.

Lab University Prep National has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.2 points over those games. As for Shining Star Sports Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
