Basketball Recap: Maywood Academy Takes a Loss

Maywood Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt an 86-49 loss at the hands of the Marquez Gladiators. The Nighthawks were down 66-35 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marquez to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julian Nunez, who went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points. Elyjah Staples was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards.

Maywood Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Marquez, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Maywood Academy will head out on the road to challenge Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marquez, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-35 loss against Gahr on the 25th.
