Softball Recap: Millry Comes Up Short

After flying high against Fruitdale on Monday, Millry came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Leroy Bears by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Wildcats were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Bears' pitcher proved too tough.

Lilly Doggette spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Millry saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Millry's defeat dropped their record down to 23-7. As for Leroy, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bears beat Millry by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday.
