Preview: Dawson vs. Alvin
The Dawson Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Alvin Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dawson will be strutting in after a win while Alvin will be coming in after a defeat.
On Friday, Dawson kept a clean sheet against Alief Elsik. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 2-0. Given Dawson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Alief Elsik is ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dawson was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Mikaela Bravo and
Melanie Lagor, who scored both of Dawson's goals. The pair have combined for a total of nine so far this season.
Meanwhile, Alvin fell victim to Shadow Creek's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 1-0. Alvin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dawson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-1 record this season. As for Alvin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
Dawson took their win against Alvin in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 4-0. Will Dawson repeat their success, or does Alvin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
