Softball Game Preview: West Lincoln Bears vs. Pisgah Dragons

For the second straight game, West Lincoln will face off against Pisgah. The Bears will host the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Lincoln has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Lincoln heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came up short against Pisgah, falling 15-3. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost five in a row.

For Pisgah's part, Hallie McCurdy made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McCurdy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Holeman, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Audrey Best was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Pisgah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

West Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Pisgah, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.
