The Mifflinburg Wildcats will square off against the Wyalusing Valley Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mifflinburg is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
On Saturday, Mifflinburg came up short against Midd-West and fell 8-5.
Chad Martin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Bolick, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wyalusing Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Canton 5-4. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Hunter House was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Wyalusing Valley's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 2-14 when he doesn't). House was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Kenny Mapes and Isaac Shaffer did most of the damage at the plate: Mapes went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Shaffer went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Shaffer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Norton, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Wyalusing Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Mifflinburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
