Baseball Recap: Oakridge Gets the Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Oakridge nor Zeeland West made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Dux 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Michael Wambaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Oakridge pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Zeeland West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Oakridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dux: the pair will be back at it again later today.
