Baseball Recap: Carlisle Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Carlisle's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Blue Ridge Barons. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chiefs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Casey Thomas made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Wood, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Luke Carter was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Carlisle's record now sits at 2-4. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Carlisle will square off against Westover Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chiefs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Blue Ridge, they will take on Shenandoah Valley Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
