Football Recap: Tuloso-Midway Skates Past Hidalgo Early College with Ease

Tuloso-Midway won the last time they faced Hidalgo Early College and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors & Cherokees claimed a resounding 55-7 win over the Pirates. Considering the Warriors & Cherokees have won five contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Leading Tuloso-Midway to victory were Damian Figueroa and Joaquin Trevino. Figueroa gained 293 total yards and three touchdowns, while Trevino threw for 202 yards and five TDs on only 17 passes. Those 202 passing yards gave Trevino a new career-high.

Tuloso-Midway didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jace Arriaga.

When it comes to explaining why Hidalgo Early College lost, don't look at Roberto Gallegos. Despite the final result, he rushed for 189 yards and one touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Tuloso-Midway and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Hidalgo Early College, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tuloso-Midway will face off against rival Calallen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 955 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Hidalgo Early College is set to square off against their familiar foe Zapata at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
