Soccer Game Preview: Fleming Island vs. Gainesville

The Fleming Island Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Gainesville Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Monday, Fleming Island and Atlantic Coast finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Gainesville kept a clean sheet against Lecanto last Wednesday. They beat the Panthers by a goal, winning 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Hurricanes were the better team in the second half.

With that draw, Fleming Island's record moves to 8-1-4. As for Gainesville, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3-3.

Everything went Fleming Island's way against Gainesville when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as Fleming Island made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fleming Island since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
