Basketball Recap: Pleasant Grove Comes Up Short

Pleasant Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 72-54 fall against the Sheldon Huskies. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-44 back in January.

Despite the loss, Pleasant Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ethan Nguyen went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Julien Ocampo, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Sheldon, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Pleasant Grove will square off against Elk Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pleasant Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for Sheldon, they will face off against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Sheldon likes a good challenge.
