Baseball Recap: Johnston Takes a Loss

While it was Johnston who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was Toll Gate who put up more. The Panthers fell just short of the Titans by a score of 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost three in a row.

Ethan Bracey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Johnston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Clements, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Toll Gate, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-13 record this season.

Johnston will face off against Burrillville at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Toll Gate, they will head out on the road to square off against Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans are facing the Islanders at the right time seeing as the Islanders are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
