Softball Recap: Malad Picks Up 13th Straight Win on the Road

Malad entered their tilt with Soda Springs on Monday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They blew past the Cardinals 13-0. The Dragons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

The team relied heavily on Liddia Gonzalez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylee Venable, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Malad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Soda Springs only posted a batting average of .067.

Malad pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Soda Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Malad will square off against rival Wendell at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Soda Springs is set to take on their familiar foe West Side at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
