Softball Game Preview: Napavine Tigers vs. Mossyrock Vikings

Napavine is a perfect 7-0 against Mossyrock since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Napavine is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

On Monday, Napavine earned an 11-7 win over Rainier.

Hannah Fay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Taylen Evander was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Grace Pancake was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Napavine lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Mossyrock was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell just short of Onalaska by a score of 2-1.

Napavine pushed their record up to 12-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 23.3 runs over those games. As for Mossyrock, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Napavine was able to grind out a solid victory over Mossyrock in their previous meeting back in April, winning 15-10. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
