After a string of four wins, Hesston's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Abilene Cowboys by a score of 5-4. The Swathers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cowboys earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Elyse Griffin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Wendy Roth was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Hesston's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Abilene, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Hesston will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Haven at 4:00 p.m. on May 9. Abilene has already played their next match (against Concordia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
