Soccer Game Preview: Naugatuck vs. Woodland Regional + How To Watch

Naugatuck is 0-9-1 against Woodland Regional since October of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Greyhounds will face off against the Hawks at 11:00 a.m. Naugatuck is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.

Naugatuck hadn't beaten St. Paul Catholic on the road since September 20, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Greyhounds had just enough and edged out the Falcons 3-2. The result kept Naugatuck happy, as they haven't lost a game since October 6th.

Sophia Vaughn and Julia Cummings scored all three of Naugatuck's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Woodland Regional, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let Watertown get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Thursday. Considering Woodland Regional have won 13 contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Woodland Regional pushed their record up to 14-1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those five matchups. As for Naugatuck, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1.

Naugatuck suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Woodland Regional in their previous matchup back in September. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Greyhounds were down 3-0.
