Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Badgers vs. Tabiona Tigers

Wayne and Tabiona are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2019, but not for long. The Wayne Badgers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Tabiona Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wayne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.

On Friday, Wayne came up short against Duchesne and fell 51-38.

Despite the defeat, Wayne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore AJ VanDyke posted 19 points and five rebounds. The match was VanDyke's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegyn Blackburn, who put up seven points.

Meanwhile, Tabiona came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Griffins to the tune of 73-17. That looming 73-17 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Tabiona's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Wayne, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.

Wayne came up short against Tabiona in their previous meeting last Friday, falling 59-51. Can Wayne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
