Basketball Recap: Greenwood Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hillcrest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenwood). They claimed a resounding 88-28 victory over the Hillcrest Rams. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Danielle Oliver was her usual excellent self, going 15 for 23 en route to 40 points and seven steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Greenwood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Oliver, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, nine assists, and ten steals.

Greenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

The win was the third in a row for Greenwood, bringing their record for this year to 8-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Hillcrest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Greenwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodmont at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodmont will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Greenwood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hillcrest, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mauldin at 6:00 p.m.
