Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Aiyana Cruz and Maria Silva Lead Saugus to Victory

Saugus won the last time they faced Winthrop and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sachems put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sachems.

Saugus was led to victory by Maria Silva and Aiyana Cruz. Silva had 13 digs and two aces, while Cruz had six digs and six aces. Those six aces gave Cruz a new career-high.

Saugus now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Winthrop, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saugus will host Everett at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winthrop, they will square off against Medford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
