Football Game Preview: Grace Community Cougars vs. Brentwood Christian Bears

Grace Community is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Brentwood Christian Bears at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Grace Community has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Brentwood Christian will arrive with three straight victories.

It was a proper cat-fight when Grace Community challenged New Boston on Friday. The Cougars came up short against the Lions, falling 35-14.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brentwood Christian). They claimed a resounding 56-21 win over Manor New Tech. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-13.

Grace Community better keep an eye on Brayden Jennings. He was instrumental in Brentwood Christian's win, rushing for 144 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 234 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave Jennings a new career-high. Jack Hansen was Jennings' top target, picking up 120 receiving yards and one TD.

Grace Community's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Brentwood Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Grace Community was able to grind out a solid win over Brentwood Christian when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 42-35. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
