Softball Game Preview: Guilderland Flying Dutchmen vs. Bethlehem Central Eagles

The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen will venture away from home to face off against the Bethlehem Central Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Guilderland couldn't beat Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Flying Dutchmen took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The loss continues a trend for the Flying Dutchmen in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.

Guilderland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Griffin, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another was Lydia Santabarbara, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Meanwhile, Bethlehem Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Shaker on Monday, taking the game 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Lyla Hanlon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Guilderland's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Bethlehem Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Guilderland was able to grind out a solid victory over Bethlehem Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Flying Dutchmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
