Basketball Game Preview: St. Cloud Bulldogs vs. Oviedo Lions

The St. Cloud Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Oviedo Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

St. Cloud's tournament run continued when they took on Osceola on Friday. St. Cloud took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Osceola.

Meanwhile, Oviedo had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 66-44 margin over the Silverhawks. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Silverhawks are ranked 35th).

Oviedo has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for St. Cloud, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-3.

St. Cloud came up short against Oviedo when the teams last played back in December of 2020, falling 71-63. Thankfully for St. Cloud, Caleb Barr (who went 9 for 12 on his way to 23 points and six boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
