Recap: East Jackson Eagles vs. Providence Christian Academy Storm
The East Jackson Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Providence Christian Academy 55-27. East Jackson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Providence Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the defeat, East Jackson saw an underclassman step up: Drew Richardson rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns. Richardson's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Branturan Callahan, who picked up 129 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Providence Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Klassen, who threw for 410 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Klassen is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Caleb Lee was another key contributor, picking up 305 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
East Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Providence Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
East Jackson will head out on the road to face off against Athens Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Banks County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Banks County is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
