Recap: Cumberland County Jets vs. White County Warriors
On Friday, the Cumberland County Jets faced the White County Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cumberland County fell 71-61 to White County. Cumberland County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as White County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
White County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Celeste Reed out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Reed has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Bella Winingham was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Cumberland County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. As for White County, their win bumped their record up to 19-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cumberland County will take on Stone Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stone Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Cumberland County is ranked 23rd). As for White County, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Upperman at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Upperman is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
