Baseball Recap: Colville Wins Going Away Against Riverside

Colville came out on top against Riverside on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Crimson Hawks blew past the Rams 11-1. With that victory, the Crimson Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kale Long spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Colville is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Luke Bateman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Colville is 3-1 when Bateman posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Colton Hansen also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Colville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for Colville and bumps their season record up to 9-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Riverside, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Colville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rams: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
