Mitchell County posted their biggest victory since December 3, 2024 on Friday. They put the hurt on the Miller County Pirates with a sharp 62-38 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mitchell County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tytionna Draggs, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Layla Mango, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 18 points and three steals.
Mitchell County was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miller County only posted two assists.
Despite the loss, Miller County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hannah Cratic posted 21 points. The contest was Cratic's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhianna Smith, who put up six points.
With the victory, Mitchell County broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8. As for Miller County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Mitchell County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-55 defeat against Pelham on the 4th. As for Miller County, they will venture away from home to challenge Stewart County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
