Cornbelt (9 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012

Cody Bunger of Canistota ran for the longest rushing play in Cornbelt (9 Man) this season against Mt. Vernon last week. Bunger ran for 70 yards on the play and finished with 76 on the day as his team bested the Mustangs.

Canistota extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mt. Vernon, 63-12. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

The Hawks' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bunger threw for 87 and three touchdowns and Boone Dekramer had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Alex Robertson chipped in 121 yards. Eric Tieszen helped Canistota's passing attack out by catching one ball for 39 yards.

Canistota's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bunger has thrown for 384 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Tieszen has three catches for 130 yards. Robertson leads the league in rushing with 338 yards.

The marquee game in Cornbelt (9 Man) this week will be the clash between Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan and Howard. The Seahawks comes into the matchup ranked second in the state, while the Tigers ranks fifth.
