Volleyball Recap: St. Pius X Falls Despite Big Games from Drew Rupnow and Alaina Ortiz

St. Pius X suffered their biggest loss since September 17th on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Bishop LeBlond Eagles. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While St. Pius X had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 25-19.

Alaina Ortiz and Drew Rupnow certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Ortiz had 13 digs, while Rupnow had ten digs. Ortiz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played. Gianna Termini also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Bishop LeBlond can attribute much of their success to Brylee Miller, who had 13 digs and one assist.

St. Pius X now has a losing record of 10-11-1. As for Bishop LeBlond, their record now sits at 13-2.

St. Pius X has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Platte County on the 29th. As for Bishop LeBlond, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against East Buchanan on the 29th.
