Basketball Recap: Hamilton Takes a Loss

Hamilton lost against Palisades back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hamilton Yankees were dealt a 78-47 defeat at the hands of the Palisades Dolphins. While losing is never fun, the Yankees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 669th, while the Dolphins are ranked 186th).

When it comes to explaining why Hamilton lost, don't look at Garrett Anderson. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Vernell Thompson, who scored nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Hamilton dropped their record down to 7-11 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Palisades, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Hamilton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-62 victory against Hoover on the 20th. As for Palisades, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-64 defeat against Oxnard on the 18th.
