Basketball Game Preview: Frederick Golden Eagles vs. Centaurus Warriors

The Frederick Golden Eagles will take on the Centaurus Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Frederick is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.

Frederick is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Lutheran on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. 2025 welcomed Frederick with a 53-33 loss courtesy of Lutheran. The game marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The losing side was boosted by Emma Rivera, who posted seven points. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024. Micah Thompson was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Centaurus won against Westminster on Friday with 59 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. Centaurus took down Ponderosa 59-44. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Centaurus has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Frederick, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Frederick didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Centaurus in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, but they still walked away with a 63-57 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Centaurus' Laura Gensert, who put up 22 points along with eight steals and seven boards. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Frederick to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
