Softball Recap: Tharptown Comes Up Short

Tharptown entered their game against Oakman on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Tharptown fell 7-3 to Oakman. If Tharptown was looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to Tharptown when the teams met back in February of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Tharptown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadlyn Archer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Even though they lost, Tharptown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive contests.

Tharptown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Oakman, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats duke it out with the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Red Bay has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.2 runs per game on average), something Tharptown will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oakman, they will welcome Gordo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be Oakman's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
