Recap: Peachtree Ridge Lions vs. Norcross Blue Devils
After a string of eight wins, the Peachtree Ridge Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The contest between Peachtree Ridge and Norcross wasn't particularly close, with Peachtree Ridge falling 35-17. Peachtree Ridge lost against Norcross in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 50-13 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Peachtree Ridge had strong showings from Myles Abernathy, who picked up 153 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Darnell Kelly, who threw for 244 yards and a touchdown.
Norcross was led to victory by Arrington (aj) Watkins and Kevin Maven-winchester. Watkins rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns, while Maven-winchester rushed for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
Peachtree Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Norcross, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Peachtree Ridge will take on Duluth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Duluth will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Peachtree Ridge is ranked 39th). As for Norcross, they will head out on the road to face off against North Gwinnett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
