Basketball Recap: Deerfield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Niles North

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deerfield). They blew past the Niles North Vikings 57-35 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Warriors have posted since December 7, 2024.

Leading Deerfield to victory were Shir Paz and Eve Engler. Paz dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Engler posted 16 points along with eight boards and four steals. Engler's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Varga, who had six points and six boards.

Deerfield's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 7-22. As for Niles North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Deerfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-41 defeat against Wauconda on the 18th. As for Niles North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 37-28 loss against Reavis on the 15th.
