Baseball Game Preview: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Shaw Raiders

Columbus is 8-2 against Shaw since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Columbus will be strutting in after a victory while Shaw will be coming in after a loss.

Columbus was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Jordan 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Red Jackets: they've now won six in a row.

RJ Griffin looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Columbus is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Caden Bryans was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Columbus is 3-1 when Bryans posts two or more stolen bases, but 10-13 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Shaw lost 14-5 to Calvary Christian on Thursday. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Shaw's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Columbus, their win bumped their record up to 13-14.
