Baseball Game Preview: McKinney Lions vs. Rock Hill Blue Hawks

The McKinney Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Rock Hill Blue Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: McKinney has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Rock Hill will arrive with four straight wins.

It was a proper cat-fight when McKinney duked it out with Plano East on Thursday. The Lions fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since February 28th.

Beck Posey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Eldrick Ramos was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rock Hill). Everything went their way against Heritage last Saturday as they made off with a 15-4 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Blue Hawks with their most commanding win of the season.

Rock Hill let Brayden Kemp and Luke Tanner run wild. Kemp got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base, while Tanner went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Trevor Kruse, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

Rock Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rock Hill's record is now 9-4. As for McKinney, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.

McKinney suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Rock Hill when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
