Volleyball Game Preview: Rushford-Peterson Trojans vs. St. Charles Fighting Saints

The Rushford-Peterson Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the St. Charles Fighting Saints at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Rushford-Peterson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

On Thursday, Rushford-Peterson earned a 3-1 win over Southland.

Rushford-Peterson was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23.

Avree Connaughty was the offensive standout of the match as she had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Connaughty wasn't the only good servers: Rushford-Peterson was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, St. Charles lost 3-0 to Pine Island on Thursday. The Fighting Saints have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

St. Charles' defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Rushford-Peterson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything went Rushford-Peterson's way against St. Charles when the teams last played last Thursday, as Rushford-Peterson made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
