Softball Recap: Newington Comes Up Short

Newington couldn't beat Simsbury on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Nor'easters fell 8-4 to the Trojans. If the Nor'easters were looking for revenge after losing 7-2 to the Trojans when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maiya Simpson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.

Newington has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Simsbury, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Coming up, Newington will head out on the road to challenge RHAM at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Simsbury, they will be playing at home against New Britain at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
