Basketball Recap: The O'Neal School Comes Up Short

The O'Neal School lost against Northwood Temple Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The O'Neal School Falcons were outmatched by the Northwood Temple Academy Eagles and fell 85-52. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Eagles are ranked 89th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwood Temple Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenny Vera, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Winston Waite, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 17 points and six steals.

The O'Neal School has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Northwood Temple Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.

The O'Neal School has already played their next match, a 78-22 defeat against Fayetteville Christian on the 17th. As for Northwood Temple Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 94-90 loss against Freedom Christian Academy on the 15th.
