Baseball Recap: Basic Extends Winning Streak to Three

Basic entered their tilt with Boulder City on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Eagles.

Jason Lizotte tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Matthew Kelley was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. What's more, he posted three runs, the most he's had over his last 11 games. Andruw Giles was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Basic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Basic's record is now 16-8. As for Boulder City, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Coming up, Basic will venture away from home to challenge Foothill at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
