Softball Recap: Coeur D'alene Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Coeur d'Alene dropped their record down to 18-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Eagle Mustangs by a score of 4-2. The Vikings were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but the Mustangs' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Eagle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

For Eagle's part, Peyton Bargen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 5.1 innings pitched. Bargen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Alyssa Orchard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Coeur d'Alene does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eagle, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-2 victory against Capital on the 16th.
