Volleyball Recap: Westland Comes Up Short

Westland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Hilliard Darby Panthers, falling 3-0. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in September of 2018.

The final score came out to 25-9, 25-10, 25-10.

Westland's offense was headlined by Kyleigh Yantis and Kylie Murphy, who picked up two kills apiece. They got some help from Audrey Alves and her four assists. Finally, Alaina Hollister kept Westland's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Lila Handrahan was a one-woman wrecking crew For Hilliard Darby. as she had 13 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Handrahan has posted since September 4th. Brooke Ison also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Westland's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Hilliard Darby, their record now sits at 11-7.

Westland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Westerville North on the 30th. As for Hilliard Darby, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Dublin Jerome on the 30th.
