Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Governors vs. St. Paul Central Minutemen

The Johnson Governors are taking a road trip to square off against the St. Paul Central Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Johnson comes in on three and St. Paul Central on nine.

Last Tuesday, Johnson beat Como Park 69-56. Given the Governors' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Cougars are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Paul Central won against South St. Paul on Saturday with 76 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. St. Paul Central came out on top against Highland Park by a score of 76-67.

St. Paul Central's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.7 points over those games. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Johnson came up short against St. Paul Central when the teams last played last Monday, falling 60-48. Can Johnson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
