Baseball Game Preview: Sunset Apollos vs. Jesuit Crusaders

For the second straight game, Sunset will face off against Jesuit. The Apollos will head out on the road to face off against the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunset will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Sunset took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Jesuit, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Apollos came out on top in a nail-biter against the Crusaders on Monday, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Apollos have posted since March 30th.

Liam Heaphy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

In other pitching news, Kayden Dabbs tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Gaibler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Sunset's record now sits at 11-4. As for Jesuit, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
