Basketball Recap: West Bend East Falls Despite Big Games from Emberlyn Ahles and Kara Hesse

West Bend East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Slinger Owls, falling 50-25. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Suns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-19 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, West Bend East had strong showings from Kara Hesse, who posted five points along with seven boards and four steals, and Emberlyn Ahles, who put up four points. The dominant performance gave Hesse a new career-high in steals.

West Bend East's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Slinger, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

West Bend East and Slinger could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. West Bend East (ranked 412th) will meet Whitefish Bay (ranked 23rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Slinger will face off against Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 243 places (279 vs. 36).
