Football Recap: Christian Brothers Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Christian Brothers extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were outmatched by the Woodcreek Timberwolves and fell 52-7. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.

Christian Brothers lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gunnar Marsh, who picked up 114 receiving yards and one score. His receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 100 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Deakon Holden, who threw for 172 yards and one TD.

As for Woodcreek, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.8 points on average this season.

Woodcreek had a senior duo take command as Josiah Melendez rushed for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries and Jaxson Karavlan rushed for 120 yards and one score on only six carries. Melendez got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 65 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jack Torrey, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Brothers will take on Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodcreek, they will square off against Vista del Lago at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Timberwolves will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
